Has anyone had a tattoo removed by derm abrasion?I hear it is cheaper and faster than laser removal.?
I have a very small one inch tall capital letter on my arm. I need to have it removed ASAP. Has anyone had experience with derm abrasion tattoo removal?
How much did it cost and how much would it approxiamtely cost fo a small, essentially 1in by 1in removal?

To remove ink from the dermal layer, dermabrasion would have to go that deep to remove the tattoo. We are talking serious scarring here.

Laser is clearly the best choice or you can ask a tattoo artist if they do salt water removal if you don’t want to go that route..

Does anyone have experience with laser tattoo removal?
I have a small tattoo, (red, purple, and black) and I have had two removal sessions, twelve weeks apart, and I have not seen much progress at all. The outline on one side has faded a bit but thats about it. How many sessions does it usually take? Should it be working better than this or am I rushing things? Are there any times when tattoos just want come off? I know that purple and red can be difficult colors to remove but I thought that black was supposed to be pretty easy.

Best answer:

you’re rushing things, 2 sessions is not enough to see significant difference when you are working with colors like red and purple. you’re going to need quite a few more sessions! best wishes

Why do I have to wait 6-8 weeks in between laser removal for my tattoo?
In general, a tattoo removal clinic will wait approximately 6-8 weeks following a scheduled appointment of laser removal depending on how the the body’s own immune system reacts to the ink and how the skin regenerates and heals back together.

My immune system is very efficient as I eat extremely healthy, exercise, and alleviate stress on a daily basis. The ink no longer elevates the following 2 weeks. Why wouldn’t the clinicians allow me to have my later appointments sooner instead of waiting the devastating long weeks?

Believe it or not, the maximum efficacy or effectiveness of the body’s ability to break down the ink doesn’t happen until week 5, (regressing into week 6) after the laser treatment. Said another way, your body’s immune system peaks during this time. Another reason for the 6 week intermission is to allow the skin in the treated area to heal itself ‘completely.’ Although you may be a quick healer and the skin may seem regenerated after two weeks or so, it takes almost a month to return to normal and be healthy enough for another laser session. Going back too early and receiving treatments prematurely will cause unnecessary trauma to the area. You’d also be wasting money on a treatment while the body is continuing to break down the ink from the last session. Be patient with the process, it is a commitment. Hope this helps.
